Vodafone becomes Chennai & Tamil Nadu’s fastest 4G network: Ookla

Vodafone has emerged as the fastest 4G network in Chennai and Tamil Nadu with its download and upload speeds being higher than the competition for Jan-March quarter, according to US-based broadband speed tester Ookla.

NEW DELHI: Vodafone has emerged as the fastest 4G network in Chennai and Tamil Nadu with its download and upload speeds being higher than the competition for Jan-March quarter, according to US-based broadband speed tester Ookla.

“We are modernising networks through latest technology deployments and consolidating spectrum as part of the world’s largest network integration exercise being undertaken by Vodafone Idea in India,” said Vishant Vora, CTO, Vodafone Idea.

“This is helping us achieve greater network capacities and faster 4G speeds for our customers. Ookla certification is recognition of our consistent efforts to provide better network experience to our customers,” added Vora.

Vodafone Idea offers 4G, 3G and 2G services through its network of over 10,000 sites in Chennai & Tamil Nadu.

“With a wide portfolio of digital content, fastest 4G speed and robust network, we are confident that we will be able to further strengthen our market position,” said Murali S., business head - Tamil Nadu, Vodafone Idea.

India’s overall global ranking in mobile speeds has decreased to 121 as compared to 112 in May 2018 as other countries seem to have surpassed India even as India’s average mobile download speeds increased from 8.75 Mbps to 10.71 Mbps in the period.
